20+ Women’s Halloween Costume Ideas That Are Actually So Good

Women’s Halloween Costume Ideas

Halloween costumes are one of those things I always think I have enough time to plan until Halloween is literally around the corner.

And then suddenly every good costume is sold out.

If you are going out this year, I think the costume should be more than just something you throw on for one night.

Cute, scary, glamorous, weird... I don't really care as long as it looks GOOD.

There are so many directions you can take with women's Halloween costumes too, especially if you don't want to wear something everyone else at the party already has on.

So, I gathered some of the prettiest, creepiest, and slightly dramatic Halloween costume ideas for women that are actually worth recreating.

Some are easy, some need a little commitment and others will probably have people asking to take pictures with you all night.

Let's get into them.

20+ Women’s Halloween Costume Ideas That Are Actually So Good

1. Ethereal dark fairy

@elizabethphoenixrose

Dark fairy costumes will forever have my attention.

The huge black tattered wings are obviously the main attraction here, but I love that you don't really need a crazy outfit underneath for the costume to work.

Add dark makeup and you are done.

2. Vintage witch with a velvet cape

@newstephanie

This is the type of witch costume I would actually want to wear outside of Halloween too.

A burgundy velvet cape with a wide-brim hat looks expensive, moody and very witchy without trying too hard.

3. Glam Medusa

@unhasbelasperfeitaas

If you are going to dress like Medusa, please don't be shy about it.

Get the gold snake crown.

Go heavy on the green or emerald eye makeup and maybe add some gold jewelry too.

This is one of those costumes where more is definitely more.

4. Celestial moon goddess

@chaewonlim255

A long white gown and silver crescent moon headpiece can turn into such a beautiful Halloween costume.

5. Creepy porcelain doll

Cute but also creepy enough to make somebody uncomfortable.

Exactly what Halloween is for if you ask me.

The cracked face makeup really makes this one, especially with an old-fashioned dress and rosy cheeks.

6. Black Panther warrior

@lauryba

A sleek black costume with gold details is already a look.

Add some bold face paint and suddenly you are giving full warrior queen energy.

7. Mysterious plague doctor

@zealouslyme

This one is definitely for the girl who wants people to remember her costume.

The long-beak mask is creepy on its own.

Paired with a leather corset, everything gets a little more fashionable.

I would keep the rest of the outfit dark and dramatic.

And yes, walking around silently in this would make it even creepier.

8. Cottagecore woodland witch

@lilivcarts

Who says every witch has to wear black?

A floral dress, little mushroom accessories and earthy details make this one feel like something straight out of a forest fairytale.

9. Sleek Catwoman

@mexicainejolie

You really cannot go wrong with Catwoman for Halloween.

Black fitted clothes, the mask and a sleek hairstyle will do most of the work for you.

Plus, it is one of those costumes that can still look really chic.

10. Old Hollywood vampire

@jolanijade

Red lips, glamorous waves and a dramatic red dress?

Say less.

11. Cleopatra

@islamtarabein

Cleopatra costumes can become cheesy very quickly, so I love going all in with the jewelry.

A gold headpiece, dramatic eyeliner and some sort of metallic armor detail will make the whole thing look better.

This is definitely not the costume to wear with barely any accessories.

You are supposed to look like royalty here.

12. Romantic ghost bride

@1ndiecindy

There is something so pretty about a ghost bride costume even though the whole idea is supposed to be creepy.

Mess up a white wedding dress a little, add an old veil and pale makeup and you are there.

13. Neon cyberpunk warrior

@dannazamarripa39

Now this is for anyone completely bored of witches and vampires.

Neon details with futuristic armor and metallic makeup look SO good at night.

I especially love this idea for a Halloween party with darker lighting.

14. Iridescent mermaid

Mermaid for Halloween?

Absolutely.

You can do the shimmering tail, shell-style top, pearls and really glossy makeup.

I think the makeup is where you can have the most fun with this one.

Add rhinestones around the eyes if you want to go extra.

And if you don't want to walk around in an actual mermaid tail all night, a shimmery fitted skirt can give basically the same vibe.

15. Dark academia potion professor

@heyux_

This one is strangely specific and that's exactly why I like it.

Tweed, books, dark colors and little potion bottles give the normal witch costume a completely different personality.

16. Warrior Valkyrie

@yoru43214

Silver armor looks amazing for Halloween, especially when you pair it with dramatic braids.

You don't have to make the entire costume super complicated either.

A few armor pieces over a black or grey outfit can work.

Add warrior-like makeup and you are basically ready for battle.

17. Catrina goddess

@mcdevittrandy

A colorful Catrina-inspired look can be absolutely stunning when the makeup is done beautifully.

Flowers and marigold shades make the whole thing even prettier.

If you recreate a Día de los Muertos-inspired look, though, it is worth understanding and respecting the cultural meaning behind the imagery too.

18. Sinister circus ringleader

@thevintagepunk

I don't know why circus costumes are naturally creepy but they just are.

A red tailored coat and huge top hat make this one instantly recognizable.

19. Glittery space alien

@keylimegrl

If there was ever a night to put silver glitter all over your face, Halloween would be it.

A holographic outfit is probably the easiest base for this costume.

Then you can add silver makeup, rhinestones, weird sunglasses or whatever alien accessories you find.

I would definitely take the glitter all the way up to the hair too.

20. Wicked Queen of Hearts

@anet4story

Ending with drama because why wouldn't we?

Red and black together already scream Queen of Hearts, then the crown and playing-card details finish everything.

This costume can be as cute or as evil-looking as you want.

Conclusion

And that is it for these women's Halloween costume ideas!

There is honestly no excuse to wear something boring when you can be a creepy doll, a glamorous vampire, an alien or literally a goddess for the night.

My favorites are probably the dark fairy, Medusa and the Old Hollywood vampire because I clearly like dramatic things.

Whatever you pick, make it yours.

Halloween only comes around once a year, so you might as well look ridiculously good for it.
